The Heraldry Society of Canada

British Columbia/Yukon Branch Events

In a moving ceremony in the palliative care unit of Victoria's Jubilee Hospital, Rean Meyer (editor of the Blazon and past president of the BC/Yukon Branch, as well as past editor of Heraldry in Canada) became one of the first Canadians to receive the Queen's Jubilee medal, and was invested with a Fellowship in the Heraldry Society of Canada. Dr. David Ruddy, branch president, presented these honours.

Also present at the ceremony were: Rean's wife, Shirley; John Aimers, of the Monarchist League; and several representatives of the Order of St. Lazarus.

Sadly, Rean Meyer passed away shortly after the presentation of these awards. He was an important member of our Society, and he will be sorely missed.

The most important upcoming event of the year is undoubtably the Heraldry Society's annual general meeting in Victoria, which will take place from Oct. 25th to Oct. 27th. Further details are available at the HSC's website.
