The Arms of the Yukon Territory

These arms were copied out of Beddoe's Canadian Heraldry (published 1981). The chief of the shield contains a cross of St. George, representing historic ties with England (just like most of the rest of Canada - of all the provinces, Quebec and Nova Scotia are the only ones which do not contain such a reference - Quebec's chief represents France, while the coat of arms of Nova Scotia is a reference to Scotland), surmounted with a piece of fur (a major industry in the north). The rest of the shield contains references to mountains, gold, and the Yukon river. The crest represents the traditional (although no longer common) mode of transportation- dogsled.

The other emblems of the Yukon can be found here.
