The City of Westmount, Que.

The setting (or "westering") sun in the arched chief (meant to represent a hill or mount) is an obvious heraldic representation of the name "west-mount". The bird shown is a raven of St. Anthony, carrying bread (the previous name of the city being St. Antoine)- St. Anthony was reputedly fed by birds while living in the wilderness. The roses may refer to the English who took over the city and changed the name (but I wouldn't want to be quoted on that). These arms are the first official civic arms in Canada, granted by the Lord Lyon of Arms in May of 1945 (all arms used by cities before that were bogus assumed arms). I've tried to get the colours right.
