This coat of arms was scanned from a decorative plaque, and has been removed, since I've been flamed by a Bon Accord resident for daring to criticise it. The image can be seen here.

The three towers are taken from the coat of arms of Aberdeen (below), which also bears three towers. The maple leaf is, of course, a reminder that the town is in Canada. The derivation of the shield from that of Aberdeen is justified, as the name of the town is obviously taken from the motto of that city (bon accord = good agreement, although I've been told that it actually means "Happy to meet, sorry to part, happy to meet again", which is not confimed by any dictionary I've checked. "Happy...Sad...Happy" is the traditional toast (not motto) of Aberdeen, so perhaps this is where the confusion comes from). The replacement of the double tressure with a bordure is necessary since the double tressure (especially when flory-counter-flory, that is, intertwined with fleur-de-lys) is almost always reserved for Scottish nobility, if not royalty.

The shield of Bon Accord is obviously not recognized by the Canadian Heraldry Authority, since the red towers on the black background breaks one of the fundamental rules of heraldry- you cannot put a colour on a colour! I have seen another version with gold fimbriation on the towers and the leaf, which is an improvement. Putting the name of the town on a scroll beneath the shield is in poor taste (as would be adopting a motto which is the same as the town's name)- I would suggest the obvious motto: "Good Agreement".
