Queen's University

These are the arms of Queen's University. The saltire serves to seperate the various floral emblems- the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the shamrock of Ireland, and the fir tree of Canada (they hadn't settled on the maple leaf at this point), and is reminiscient of the device of Montreal. The border, charged with crowns, reflects the name of the institution and the city in which it is located (Kingston).

For some reason, the school prefers to use a shield which is blank, save for a crown, encircled by the letter Q. How clever.
